Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Science can be fun and exciting! However, when you have to read about it instead of truly exploring the scientific world, it can be boring.
We are a public arts charter, and like all schools have been hit hard by budget cuts.
We are a part of our local school district and face the same pressures as all public schools. We are located in an agricultural community where many of our students are second language learners. Our population is 70% free or reduced lunch.
They are great kids who are eager to learn.
My Project
Currently, the way my students learn about science is through reading it in a book. Boring! When I am teaching them about the solar system, I have to have them 'imagine' the world as I don't even have a globe. This makes it difficult to show why the Earth is light at certain times and dark at other. While I can use basketballs, soccer balls, and other such objects, my students deserve to have the best manipulatives in order to have a true quality education.
With your donation, we can fully explore the wonderful, wacky world of science.
You can help bring the joy of wonder and exploration to future scientists. Bringing science and learning alive is what my students need.
