Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our students are from Mesquite and Balch Springs TX. They attend DJDHHS. We are a low socio-economic campus and a Title I school. We have a diverse group of students of various backgrounds, cultures, demographics and economic status. Our students are consciousness and respectful of one another as well as the staff here at HHS. Our students have not always been given what they need in terms of resources and support, but they are resilient and work diligently with what they have.
My Project
We want to replace and update equipment in the small weight room located in the main building of the school. Girls athletics are the main users of the equipment in this room. With it being seriously out of date it does not provide a proper workout for athletes. With the updates, during cold and/or rainy weather, our girls sports teams would be able to stay in the main building and not have to go out in the elements to get to the larger weight room located in the boys athletic facility.

- To make our weight-room more safe and functional.
- Give our female athletes equal opportunity to be competitive
- Give Low socioeconomic youth a place build character, develop problem solving skills and build healthy relationships.
- Allow access to an updated training facility that does not charge a fee they cannot afford.
- Allow our student's to be able to use quality equipment.
