My Students

My students represent the diverse population of Sunset park, Bay ridge and the surrounding areas of Brooklyn. We are a Title I school that offers services and programs to help students adjust from middle school into High School and then finally into college.I have been teaching freshmen mostly this year in my music classes and will be expanding into offering an elective for upper class men this year.

Students enjoy the school clubs and facilities and would benefit from an update of equipment in certain areas.

My Project

Recently I started working with the mentorship program here at the HS for Telecommunications Arts and Technology. Its a great opportunity to reach at risk students and provide academic and social/emotional support.

As a part of my mentoring hours I started bringing my mentee down to the weight room to participate in weight training to on day a week.

The students in the weight room are learning basic lifting movements and are dedicated every week.

Having a new smith machine with a multi-positional bench would be a great addition considering the current incline bench is broken, the bench press bench is not the appropriate size and the pull up bar is hidden in behind a drop ceiling.

This piece of equipment will allow students to try these movements using safer equipment.
