My school is a high needs/provety. All students eat for free. Some students in this class have disabilities like SLD, ADD/ADHD, autism and hearing impairment. My students come from all sorts of backgrounds and are a diverse group of boys and girls who are funny, bright, inquisitive and love learning about anything. They will say the funniest things, they notice the littlest details and they have an unique perspective of the world around them. My students are eager to learn every single day!
My Project
Weekly Reader is a kid friendly grade specific magazine for students. The magazine is nonfiction and covers science and social studies content about the world. While students are learning about the world through the magazine they also develop crucial reading skills that is embedded in each issue. Each issue comes with a lesson plan that focuses on a particular reading skill and has follow up questions. Another benefit would be that the students can take the magazines home and reread them to their parents. These magazines are full of great topics the students get really excited about reading and learning. Weekly Readers will allow their world to open up and grow wider. Thank you in advance!
