Hooray! This project is fully funded

Let me begin by thanking you for taking the time out to read my proposal. I am fortunate enough to teach a 3rd and 4th grade combined classroom at The Children's Workshop School in NYC. We pride ourselves on being a very close community of students, teachers, and parents. Our school is extremely diverse and therefore brings together children of all ethnicities and economic backgrounds. It has been my experience that my students learn best when they are immersed in hands-on activities that are reflective of their interests. As a result, I believe that providing students with Weekly Readers along with the Science supplement would allow them to gain additional support in reading, writing, and nonfiction work, all of which are required skills for their annual City Testing. These educational magazines will provide students with grade-appropriate nonfiction content to develop reading, grammar and vocabulary skills. Such high-interest theme and news-based issues will help prepare students for assessment testing and support our curriculum. The additional Science supplement would make science exciting and fun for my students and once again provide them with grade-appropriate material they can easily understand, interpret, and apply. Having a Weekly Reader subscription along with the Science Spin supplement would be extremely beneficial to our curriculum. This educational magazine will engage my students and make them eager to learn about current events and science topics while strengthening their non-fiction reading skills. It is important to me that I provide them with engaging curriculum-based activities that will allow them to learn about current events along with scientific facts. In addition, I hope such articles will provide the basis for rich classroom discussions around various topics such as this year's presidential elcetion which is currently being featured in Weekly Reader. Once again, thank you for your consideration.
