Our classroom is a place where students feel safe to learn, explore, and challenge themselves. We are an English Language Learner school where students come from many diverse backgrounds. We are also a Title I school where 100 percent of students receive free breakfast and lunch daily.
Each of us work hard every day to be the best we can be.
We work as a team and encourage one another. My students look forward to new experiences and opportunities the world has in front of them.
My Project
My students need high interest, non-fiction reading materials. Time For Kids is both a printed magazine and digital subscription. The weekly magazines have current news articles that are engaging to students.
"TIME for Kids nurtures today's learners and tomorrow's leaders with authentic news and the critical-thinking skills that shape active global citizens."
My student's homes do not have a newspaper subscription. They do not have access to any written news other than what I can give them at school. It is essential they have the opportunity to read about current news events and having a kids news subscription will give all my students this opportunity.
I have also added a kids desk chair in this project. My students earn rewards for positive behaviors. A favorite incentive this year has been sitting in the teacher's chair. I currently only have one teacher chair, so this additional fun student chair will make it so there are two students a day who get to earn the fun teachers chair.
