Our urban school is committed to empowering our students to make our community and world a better place. With the help of our school families, we are relentless in the pursuit of success for every student. Our middle school students are capable of great achievement and we feel honored to help them discover it. Our students' success is also dependent on the world they live in.
We must actively work to create a world in which every individual is valued and their talents are honored and encouraged.
We are a Title I middle school that serves students in grades six through eight. Many of our students have experienced challenges in their young lives in the form of homelessness, refugee camps, foster care, or family illness/death, yet our students have a persistent spirit that is a clear strength for them. As a school community, we actively work to support one another. We recognize that some members of our community have experienced trauma and we want to help lessen their burden so that they can learn and grow.
My Project
The weekends can be a challenge for our students that are accustomed to eating two daily meals at our school. We recently had a project funded to send food home with students over winter break. We were surprised to see the number of students and families that needed to use this resource. This project is a request to stock our shelves to give food as needed throughout the year. Students can take home small meals in their backpacks.
No one should ever go without meals, especially when your body is growing.
The requested spaghetti, peanut butter, chili, and tuna will make weekend meals just a bit easier for our students. Students that have their basic needs met are better equipped to do great things!
