This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I currently have 56 students in my fourth-grade class. My students are great students who have a love for technology, reading, writing, science, math, and social studies. They are very excited about learning, and I want to make the class interactive. I want to help them succeed in their challenging environment. I teach an inclusion class. I have four students that are autistic in my class.
The students in my classroom are a diverse group of children who come from intricate family backgrounds.
Our school is located across the street from two homeless shelters for families. It is an upstart program that helps students and their families get help to find permanent housing. I teach at a low-income school and in a classroom full of eager learners who are enthusiastic about coming to school every day!
My Project
I have many homeless kids and families in my school. I try to provide these kids with the items they might need after school hours. I want to provide them with snacks so that they can have something to snack on over the weekend. Many of them complain that they don't have anything to eat on the weekends.
Long weekends are especially hard, so I pack ziplock bags with non-perishable food they can snack on until they come back to school for quick snacks.
I want to provide them with protein shakes, nutritious shakes and snacks to help them stay full over the weekend.
I have requested items the kids like such as granola bars, chips, crackers, and fruit snacks. I am also requesting water and juice so that they can take home with them as well. These items will not ruin in their backpacks and therefore when they get hungry they know they always have something to eat.
