WeDo Science and Engineering

My Students

Our city is a lower middle class, moderately educated city in the state of South Dakota. The student to teacher ratio at our school (19:1) is significantly higher than the average elementary school in South Dakota (14:1).

My students come to school eager to explore and learn about the world around them.

They love to take the ideas that I've taught them and extend their learning even further in class and at home! They have an internal spark that I am excited to light.

My Project

My students will use the WeDo 2.0 Lego set to explore their science and engineering skills. With the WeDo 2.0 Smarthub, the students will learn about the electronic system based building brick to power their Legos. They will learn how motors and motion sensors work to make their build come to life. The students will work with a tilt sensor that will allow their build to tilt in different directions as well as shake. This Lego set has a curriculum pack that is built on the Next Generation Science Standards in all strands of science. We would like to attempt to solve a real-world problem with these builds.
