I work in a community-centered school in beautiful Northeast Tennessee. My school is a Title I school and we have a very diverse population.
When my students enter my classroom they are entering an environment that is designed with them in mind.
They are eager, excited, and very enthusiastic about learning and school. They are excited to show me what they know and what they can do with what they have learned. However, their needs are very diverse. Each has a different style of learning and ability level. It is my job to figure out their best learning style and find fun, engaging, and meaningful ways to meet them where they are and take them to great places.
My Project
Imagine walking into a classroom where every student has a device. All students are actively engaged and learning at their own level. They have the choice to showcase their learning using various options. This iPad will make this a reality for my classroom. It will be used every day by all students in math and reading stations. Students will also use it during the hands-on time and one on one learning. It will be paired with other technology and apps that will enhance and showcase their learning.
Not only will students be immersed in technology but they will use this technology to create meaningful products to show their understanding.
By having a one to one classroom my students can all work at the same time creating and learning at their own level. They will have the flexibility to choose how they show their learning. It is important to allow students a choice when showing their learning instead of limiting them to one option and having this iPad will allow them this choice.
