Help me give my students the materials to make a basket and keep it forever!

Hello! I teach at a Title 1 high school in a metro area. Most of my students have had minimal time in an art class and some never even took art in middle school. My goal, as their art teacher is to introduce them to all kinds of art making processes- from drawing, painting, and printmaking, to ceramics and fibers.
In my ten years of teaching art, I have found that students get most excited when we create a unique project- something they have never done before or would not be able to make at home.
The Cherokee double wall basket weaving project is a great example. This project is unique and all the baskets turn out looking wonderful. Students are proud to show off their work to parents, friends and other teachers!
Please help me to bring excitement and confidence to my high school art students by supporting this small project.
Thank you for funding the arts!
My students will take away from this project a beautiful basket they wove themselves using traditional methods. This project will create confidence and pride and encourage their creativity in areas of the arts that are less promoted. This project will also teach my students to appreciate the traditional methods used by people along time ago, specifically in this project that of the Native American Cherokee peoples. Students will be able to take home something special and keep it forever.
Once the baskets are woven we will put them on display in the front office of the school to show off the multifaceted visual arts program at our high school.
Many forms of art should be taught and by funding this project it will allow me to teach not only drawing and painting, but also a unique fiber arts project as well.
