My students need a class loom! One of the basic skills an art student must learn is weaving. By having a large loom we can work as a team to create art for our school!

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are fun, energetic, creative, and extremely kind. The community I serve is based in Camden City, New Jersey. While this city is well known for its poverty and crimes rate, I find this city to be vibrant and thriving!
The families I serve love their children and are extremely dedicated to their children's education.
Our school strives for academic success, creative experiences, and overall safety. With your help we can continue to expand our resources and better serve our amazing families.
My Project
Art programs for the elementary grades always introduce weaving to the students. Paper weaving is an effective way to introduce this skill, but it does not offer the student the hands on approach to textile work. Looms are becoming a tool of the past due to their size. I believe the loom opens the door for my students to work as a team, discover a whole new art form, and create school wide projects.
I have found the PERFECT loom that will fit PERFECTLY in my room!
The students will be able to weave yarn and various fabrics. They will not only have exposure to weaving, but to textile arts as a whole! Please consider funding this project and make weaving a wonderful part of this art program!
