My students need these looms to make a real-world connection. Learning how to weave on these looms will bring history to life for my art students.

My Students
Many of my students are the first generation in this country and do not speak English as their first language. For a large number of these children, this is their first school experience.
80% of my students come from low-income families.
We provide two meals a day for all of the students in this district due to their socioeconomic status. School supplies, books and other things many of us take for granted, are a luxury for the students in my school.
My Project
The limited budget that my school district can give me to buy art supplies for all of the students that I teach, does not stretch far enough to buy unique products like these looms.
Having my students use the looms will open their minds to the many applications that fabric has in our lives.
The looms will allow them to research the history behind the use of looms and give them a chance to make a real-world connection.
The looms will also promote enhanced fine motor skills as they learn how to set-up the looms and begin the weaving process.
