Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students come from all over the district. We are a public school, where parents put their child on the waitlist at 4 years old to go through the school's lottery. We are a school of choice. We are a high performing school, where parent participation is strongly encouraged. Parent support is key to my students' success. We do not receive federal funding. We have to fundraise for anything extra. Common Core Standards are implemented daily, with a lack of materials. It would be great to get more materials.
My Project
Botley the Coding Robot will introduce students to coding without the use of a screen. The activity set includes different hands-on materials, such as puzzles with dominoes that will allow the students to really explore and learn. This robot is engaging and allows students to move away from the desk and chair, and allow them to interact more with the robot and each other.
Botley the Coding Robot is a creative, engaging, and fun way to explore the world of coding.
One day this could be a very rewarding and career choice they would not have otherwise been exposed to.
