We Would Like to Study Bones That Have Never Mooed

My students need a model of the human skeleton that they can manipulate and study with a hands on approach.

I teach human anatomy to juniors and seniors in a rural area of Tennessee that has a high poverty level and a rapidly growing Hispanic community.

Our school system was forced to go to a paycheck loan company to buy paper at the end of last year, so other requests are out of the question. The science department is funded by lab fees, and over 50% of the student body is exempt. We have been using bovine bones as manipulatives as we study the human skeleton.

Skeletal manipulatives are very important to provide these students with hands on experience. It is so much easier to learn when you are able to touch. The knowledge of function is in the details of form. You must be able to see in order to learn.

You will make it possible for my students to learn about a topic that is important for everyone. We try to fulfill the words of Delphi, "Know Thyself".
