This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I work with a group of energetic first graders who love to learn. My students come from a low income/ high poverty area. They are strong, loving, and determined to overcome any obstacles that stand in their way. 1st grade is a very important year. They are learning to become readers, writers, and mathematicians. My students are ready to read books that can make them feel successful, independent, and confident. We are one family, and will work hard to help each other accomplish all of our goals!
My Project
My students are at the age that they want to learn as much as they can! Words, sentences and books are exciting. With these books, my students will be exposed to all kinds of texts. The lower level readers will have books that encourage them to never give up and help increase their self-confidence. My on-level readers will be exposed to books that reinforce their independent reading skills while still keeping them engaged. My above level readers will push my students to another level, keep them from getting bored, and encourage others to set goals to read above level books!
