My Students

In the 21st Century, technology is changing on a daily basis. In education, it would be beneficial for technology to stay up-to-date with the rest of the world. Our school computers are outdated and the majority are not capable of doing what the students need.

My group of third graders are creative and eager learners.

Like most schools, my students are adapting to new Common Core State Standards and will be expected to not only know the new standards but also how to access and take the new state tests on the computer. They will be asked to critically think, problem solve, and explain themselves. Funding for students has decreased significantly making it difficult to update school technology, which is desperately needed.

My Project

With access to Chromebooks in my classroom, students will be able to have resources to assist them in most subject areas. They will have easy access to the internet for research, typing practice, as well as other educational web-based programs. We can also use the Chromebooks for academic intervention for students who are struggling. The technology will give them meaningful, hands-on learning experiences and will allow them to develop necessary computer skills.

My students are scheduled for a weekly visit to the computer lab.

The computer lab has outdated technology and limits what they can do. I want to make certain that my students have necessary skills with access to technology in their own classroom.
