My Students
Our day starts with grabbing a good book and getting lost in the pages. Our selection of books is limited because I moved to a different state and most of my classroom library belonged to the previous school. I want to give my students the opportunity to love reading as much as I do.
I have a classroom of 27 students who are eager to learn each day. Some are challenged by reading but are excited to try every day. Others are soaring to new levels but don't have much to choose from. Many of my students do not have books at home so school is their only chance to read great books.
My Project
With multiple copies of the same book my students will be able to read with a partner or read as a small guided reading group. Students will be able to share their understanding with others and learn from each other. We will be able to read different genres and expand our understanding all while increasing our reading levels.
I believe by obtaining a new classroom library my students will be recharged and excited about discovering what new books we have. I believe the students will be thrilled to find books on their "just right" level and feel successful which in turn will drive them to want to read more.
