Mrs. Jones from Cleveland AL is requesting Reading Nooks, Desks & Storage through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need flexible seating to improve classroom space. The two rectangular tables would be used to take the place of 12 classroom desks, which in return would allow more space/movement in the classroom.
Athletes, future doctors, caregivers, presidents, astronauts-- just to name a few. These are just a few things that make my students special. They want to achieve what some may think is unachievable. My students read about characters through books, and then talk about how amazing it would be if they could do just what that character did. Each morning they come in full of energy and ready to go. Each student has something different to offer and a unique personality to top it off.
My students come from diverse backgrounds.
Our school is made up of a small community in a rural area. 67% of our students are on free and reduced lunch, and our school qualifies for Title I funding. Many of our students are being raised by their grandparents. Despite our students' adversities our students continue to dream about the possibilities they can accomplish through loving people who take a chance on them.
I'm asking you to take a chance on these students. That is all Ben Franklin, Albert Einstein, Michael Jordan, and Bill Gates needed was that one chance. All of my students' dreams can come true too, if we have the tools to pursue them.
I am asking for two rectangular tables through this project. These tables will allow flexible seating to be used in the classroom, and in return will create more space in an area that is already crammed. My plan is to lower one table and have students sit on carpet/ cushioned seats while they work. This table will take the place of at least 6 classroom desks, so not only will it allow my students to have a change from the uncomfortable seating they have now, but it would also give more space in the classroom.
The second table will be used with stools that I have already ordered through my classroom donation money.
This table will serve the same purpose, which is to create flexible seating in the classroom, and create more space simultaneously. In all, if this project is funded I could have 2 tables to replace at least 12 desks in a small classroom of very large 6th graders.
