Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I work with amazing students that have special needs. My students are in an Autism Focus Program. They have Individualized Education Plans based on their special needs, such as Autism and Speech and Language Delays. They attend a public school in a high poverty district. My students are active learners. They work hard and are gaining skills in the areas of math, reading, writing, social skills, and language development. My students are achieving their goals, and I am proud to be their teacher!
My Project
My students are 4 and 5 and have a lot of wiggles. Some need stimulation from certain sensory items. This project will help my kids focus during our learning centers and our social centers. They will be able to wiggle from side to side on the wobble stools, and the stability cushions. They will enjoy the bean bag during their library center. Plus, they will be able to utilize the balls and other sensory items throughout the school day as needed. I have a few of these items in class and they absolutely love them, but I need more to better meet the needs of my students.
