My students need a MacBook Pro to create messages of welcome and orientation for our new friends coming from Puerto Rico due to Hurricane Maria.
While the majority of my students are reading at or above grade level, I have a few that are falling behind their peers. This is the year to get them caught up!
I have an amazingly bright group of students this school year.
They are spunky, witty, energetic and very caring. This makes for a great school day for all of us.
I will do everything in my power for my kiddos, including bringing greatly needed support items into my classroom, thanks to DonorsChoose.org.
My students are one of the most compassionate group of kids I have ever met. Their learning style is clearly verbal. They will talk out any situation and solve all of their own problems. For this reason, I truly believe my students could make a difference in the world of a new child coming to our school, especially those with little to no English language background.
By having a MacBook Pro in the classroom, coupled with our iPads, my students will be able to create short videos welcoming and orientating our new friends coming to us from Puerto Rico due to the devastation of Hurricane Maria.
We already have several students arrive at our school and are expecting more to come.
We would use our iPads to record short videos providing information about our school for our new friends affected by Hurricane Maria. They would introduce our support teachers to our new friends, they would show our new friends around our school, and they would provide our new friends messages of welcome and encouragement in these videos. They would use the MacBook Pro to edit the videos and publish them to our online classroom platform where they would easily be shared with our new friends. While we have iMovie on our iPads, it is much easier and quicker to edit on the MacBook Pro with touchbar. This MacBook Pro will also help my students maintain their iPads and allow them to back them up as needed since we cannot use Cloud Storage for our student iPads.
