Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We are a diverse group of third-grade students from a small farming community in northern California. We do not allow our financial backgrounds or differences to hold us back from achieving our goals. We are part of the No Excuses University program.
Our public school has a large number of free or reduced-price lunch students.
Many students are not able to bring much-needed supplies from home in order to be successful in school. We enjoy reading, writing, doing math, as well as learning about science, history, and technology.
My Project
We are asking for a small table and cushions to sit on for our classroom. My students love to move around. Sitting in a desk all day can be difficult. We are looking at other ways to be able to sit comfortably and without disturbing others.
Having the flexibility to move around is very important.
By allowing my students the choice to chose where they want to sit, they can be on task more. Students can sit quietly at the small table on a cushion and complete their math work or quietly read a book. They will enjoy the flexibility to choose their seat.
