This year at our middle school we have begun our first 6th grade Honors Language Arts class. We focus on the standards for sixth grade, but also pull in seventh grade content. My kiddos have truly risen to the challenge in front of them and love to learn. These students are truly inspirational.
They have a drive and thirst for knowledge that pushes me to be a better teacher!
This year has been a renewal for all of us as we focus on how powerful an education can be.
My Project
My Honors students have read the book Michael Vey: The Prisoner of Cell 25 during our school year. They have already been pleading for the second book, which I don't have. Many of my students don't have the finances to get this book for themselves, and I want to encourage their love for this series.
I want to be able to gift my students the second book in the series so they can continue with this amazing literature series!
My students would then have the opportunity to read this book over their summer break -- and trust me, they really are begging for the next book in the series.
How often do you hear that about eleven year olds?! Please help me encourage their thirst for reading!
