Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We have a problem in 3rd grade! Many of my students are eager to begin reading chapter books. My students cannot wait to dive into chapter books, but many of them are still not quite at that reading level. Simple beginner chapter books are just the solution to our problem!
I work in a wonderful school with a terrific team of teachers and staff.
I am blessed to be working at a school with so much support. My classroom is home to 27 very eager and enthusiastic third graders.
The majority of my students are low-income, English language learners. My students are my inspiration, and they challenge me to open my mind every day. I owe it to them to provide them with nothing but the best.
My Project
I have created a nice, quiet reading area in our classroom because my students enjoy reading and looking at books so much. Unfortunately, most of my students are reading below a third grade level. Our classroom library is full of books that are either too difficult or too simple to read. The last thing I want to do is turn them off to the idea of reading.
I am requesting a collection of various series of chapter books to keep my students' love for reading alive. These simple chapter books are perfect for their reading level. Students will also be able to borrow these books and take them home.
I want nothing more than to be able to provide my students with a great collection of books and a literacy rich environment.
Having new books that target their reading level in our library will definitely send a positive message to them that reading is important and achievable!
I think that having new books in the classroom will inspire my students to be lifelong readers. Please help make a difference in their school experience. Thank you for looking at my project!
