Here's a bunch of kids who love to read!!!! I teach fourth grade in a city school. We have many struggling readers. My class is an inclusion class. We have a wide variety of abilities in our room.

This was our first year with our new reading series. The class has enjoyed the stories. I have found, however, that many of the students are lacking background knowledge to help understand the story. We need books to help the students build background knowledge.

We read a tall tale about Paul Bunyan. The problem with the story was that it assumed that the students knew about Paul Bunyan. Well, they didn't! I would like to have a set of books called "American Tall Tales." The book has the story of Paul Bunyan and eight other famous folk heroes. I think if the students were exposed to tall tales they would get much more out of the story in their reader.

With your help my students will enjoy a part of childhood that so many of us have enjoyed. Your donation is sure to bring a smile to their faces. They love a good story, the more fantastic, the better!
