My students need wireless volume limiting headphones to observe various insects through the wireless microphone. We will place the microphone in habitats and be able to observe from a distance.We will also create our own habitats!
As a School Media/Technology teacher and Librarian for kindergarten to fifth grade students, I am passionate about doing everything in my power to provide a safe, exciting and passionate learning environment! Students in our small school are learning a buildings that are not up to modern education standards. They often struggle to find success that is standardized with what they receive. That is where this project plays a huge roll.
We are a small town that is set in the mountains of Colorado, surrounded with nature to inspire and educate us!
We strive to provide as much as possible for our students on an extremely tight budget that is continually being cut.
My Project
Students will work together to execute group activities ranging from researching insects, observing live animals, creating habitats and more! We will create a foundation of knowledge with basic insect names, anatomy, habitat, etc. Then we will create interactive habitats to observe. A small microphone will be placed in habitats and students will all be able to listen wireless to the lives of active insects.
We will inspect insects through live observation, listening stations, habitat construction and more.
We will expand our project later on to incorporate live butterflies. Students are excited to get outdoors and learn about the incredible world around us!
