We are located in an extremely overcrowded elementary school in New York. We work very hard and appreciate learning through laughter, fun, and play. It is a long school day when all we do is sit in our seats and work.
You often hear an explosion of laughter coming from my classroom.
A second grade is an awesome place for any child to be. I am a second-grade teacher for a very eager and excitable group of children. I am truly a lucky teacher.
My students are extremely interested in reading, but they also love the thought of choosing a book they can own. This is why a trip to Barnes and Noble is such a wonderful experience. While in Barnes and Noble they will take a class about Jack Prelutsky, one of my favorite poets. They are already familiar with his Homework! Oh Homework! poem and would love to learn more about him.
Imagine a group of children gathered around, in Barnes and Noble, studying the poetry of Jack Prelutsky.
I've taken several classes over the years on this trip and it truly is inspiring. The real bonus is that my kids will be able to buy a book. Barnes and Noble is nice enough to set up a display for my second graders so they are able to pick books easily and wisely. Plus, I believe that when children connect reading with fun it is a win-win situation.
