My students need access to Science literature and tools to touch, build, and see our world, which will encourage exploration and discovery (with Time For Kids,a Mania Math Building Set and a child sized microscope).
Variety is the spice of life and my students are spicy! They come from Florida, Tennessee, and a many countries outside the U.S. My students love to learn, laugh, and explore the world around them. Its up to the school to provide materials and guidance for their exploration.
My goal is to bring more hands-on and self discovery tools into the classroom that will encourage their natural curiosity.
This is what STEM is all about! They are free to wonder, then explore, then seek out answers. My students need to laugh and feel free as they explore together in my classroom. Fun activities build their relationships. There is no judgement of right or wrong, just guidance for improvement. My classes develop into a big family with all the joys and also the struggles, throughout the year. I am fortunate enough to be a part of their lives!
My Project
My students are creative, thoughtful and full of questions! They absolutely love hands-on, active, engaging projects and challenges that allow them to independently seek solutions! They come to school each day ready to try new things and take brave chances in order to grow both personally and academically.
We will read STEM literature and Time For Kids before we use hands-on materials such as: Manipulative Mania Math to build ingenious machines, the Magnet Kit to observe properties, and My First Microscope to see the smallest details of matter in our world.
Our students become the scientist and every scientist must record their data and discuss the conclusions. Students take pride as other students and parents witness their experiment's results. We need colorful paper to draw and share our findings. The final touch is to laminate it for longevity. Parent's Night will be a proud showcase of student work!
