Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I'm a teacher in an elementary public school. I serve students with different disabilities in a fourth/fifth grade-level classroom. My students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking for creative and simple ways to foster independence, kindness, and meaningful learning experiences for all of them.
My students come to school eager to learn, they are kind, and talented in many ways.
They like to move, they love lots of positive attention and praise, and they like to learn new information. They all receive a free breakfast and lunch based on their socioeconomic status. These things may prevent them from getting ahead early in life and may not provide them with the life experiences many of us see as "typical". By meeting their needs in a creative and positive way, I am hopeful to help them even more!
My Project
My students lack background knowledge and hands-on experiences in math, science, and engineering. I believe the materials I'm requesting will provide them with the opportunity to work collaborative, be creative, and boost their STEM and problem-solving skills.
The building blocks and the connect and learn circuit kit are going to be used frequently in my classroom to help my students develop 21st-century skills and the understanding of physical science and engineering.
Also, my students will be challenged to think critically and explain their experiences and their thinking to the class, this would be extremely beneficial to help them develop listening and speaking skills as well. Your donation will make a huge impact in my classroom, thank you for considering this project!
