This year, I have the privilege of teaching seven amazing kindergarten through second grade students who are diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder and are from a very low income area of Washington, DC. We are working in a small classroom setting to increase our verbal communication skills and master developmental skills we may be behind in.
They are very hard workers and are rising to the very high standards of academic success we have set for them.
Every day, they work extremely hard to stay on task with their academic, social, and verbal skills to be the best little scholars they can be.
I am requesting this iPad to give my students an exciting and multi-sensory approach to their reading and math instruction. My students would be able to use many exciting hands-on apps to practice their reading and math grade level goals and also have stories read aloud to them, practice and play math games, and even record themselves reading to play for their fellow classmates! Finally, in my classroom I would be able to integrate and blend technology in an accessible way for all my students.
My students have very little exposure to computers or any technology.
Many of them do not even have a computer at home, and we do not have the resources to let every grade at our school, especially our special needs class, go to computer class. With this iPad, I would be able to bring technology, which is lacking, to life in our classroom. Your donation would empower every student in my classroom to improve critical reading and math skills to help their inclusion readiness skills. Please help each of my uniquely talented scholars to reach their goals!
