Ms. Thompson from Washington DC is requesting supplies through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need materials such as magnifying glasses, eyedroppers, binoculars, prisms, test tubes, and magnetic wands to use during choice time at the science center.

My pre-k students are over the moon about science but truth be told, we have a seriously sad science center that cannot fully accommodate their growing brains and expanding interests in the subject.
I am the lucky teacher of 19 adorable pre-k students.
My students are inquisitive, creative, and always ready to learn. These fantastic 4 year olds attend a public charter school in Washington, DC. Many of the students in our community are high poverty, coming from low socioeconomic backgrounds, and thus these resources are as important as ever.
The education system right now focuses heavily on math and language arts so my students absolutely crave science. Our classroom just does not have the resources to support their growing interests. With these foundational resources, my ability to teach science will improve tremendously. My students will be able to mix colors using test tubes and eye droppers. They will observe physical attributes of objects using magnifying glasses. They will explore the world around them with binoculars. They will observe, make predictions, collect data, and come to conclusions. They will be scientists.
This community is high-need, and I want to be able to give my students the best possible education I can.
While they excel in math and language arts, we cannot forget about the importance of science. I want to be able to turn these amazing 4 year olds into scientists and help give them an incredible amount of knowledge that will deepen their interest in their favorite subject. Science is all around us, and we want to learn more!
