Help me give my students the gift of becoming confident readers and writers.

My students come from a low socioeconomic background. Our school is a community school, so most of the students have grown up in the same neighborhood. For some of them learning to write their name and recognize letters of the alphabet is challenging, especially for some of my ELL learners. They have had little to no exposure to letters and writing opportunities. They all want to learn and I want to help foster their love of learning so they can be as prepared of Kindergarten as possible.
These students truly deserve the opportunity to learn in an environment that engages and helps to support their learning success in as many ways as possible.
Still being early into teaching it is challenging trying to fund an entire classroom. I have had to buy supplies, toys, and other essentials for my classroom to help my students as much as I can. Unfortunately, there is a limit to what I can provide for them out of pocket.
These Letters Alive journals will help our students to stay engaged with their learning and become more successful with letter and sound recognition. Students will be able to take what they have learned at school and use it at home, which will allow them multiple opportunities for exploring letters and their sounds. When we earn about a letter, it will be an experience they can engage with and help teach their peers what they have learned. Students will feel more comfortable and open when interacting with a peer.
I want to provide them the best learning environment possible.
I don't want them to be bored or feel like their learning success isn't as important as their friends. I want all learning styles to be accommodated in my classroom. The see and spell puzzles specifically will help all my students improve their emergent reading skills. My students will be able to manipulate and learn with the letter construction set. The writing readiness skills book will help practice and enhance their pre-writing skills as well. Working on both reading and riding skills will help my students become more prepared for Kindergarten. Using these resources and materials with my students will help to decrease classroom management problems and students’ attention spans will be increased.
