While all of my students live in the same neighborhood, their backgrounds, home language and cultures vary greatly. I set high expectations for my students and strive to give them quality experiences that they may not otherwise receive. Hands-on experiences are crucial for my students to deeply learn within the classroom.
My students are excited to learn in fun, engaging, student-centered ways.
My classroom is dedicated to not only teaching my students academics (letters, numbers, colors, shapes) but also incorporating social and life skills (solving disagreements calmly, taking turns, sharing their thinking with others).
My students are hard workers who love to learn about everything using a growth mindset. They add the word "yet" to the end of their sentences when they are faced with a road block. They always embrace the challenge that they need to try hard things in order to make their brains grow.
My Project
The Bubbles Bonanza Engineering kit will help my students learn what engineers do when they design something using the engineering design process. They will start by solving the problem-design a bubble wand that makes bubbles. They will finish by testing their design and possibly improving their bubble wand if the wand doesn’t work.
Through hands-on learning they will research bubble wands, imagine ideas for a wand design, plan their wand design by drawing it out, and then create their bubble wand.
They will have many different materials to choose from to design a bubble wand that makes a bubble. If their design doesn’t work when they test it, they will need to improve their design and test it again.
