My students need a 80GB iPod to help them listen to audiobooks.
My second graders are really trying to become powerful readers. However some of the children are having trouble becoming fluent readers and some of the children don't have the interest in reading that they should. It appears to have become a chore for some of them to read daily.
It is difficult at times to hook a child on books with all the wonderful electronic devices they have available at home.
Reading is often taking a back seat to the world of devices and electronic games available.
Instead of competing with electronics I want to include them in my classroom. I feel that having an ipod available to download books will be very engaging for the readers that need to become fluent or interested. The children that will be using the ipod will be able to have vocal support along with the visual. They will be able to match oral language to printed text.
You are necessary to the success of implementing audiobooks in my classroom and exposing the children to a new and exciting way in literacy.
