I teach middle school math to students with disabilities. My students are motivated and hardworking. I strive to meet the learning needs of all my students - whether they are visual, auditory, kinesthetic, or tactile learners. My school is located in Queens, New York where more than half of the student population come from low income households.
Many students have minimal access to basic school supplies and when they need replacing, are unable to replenish what they need.
I want to be able to supply them with these necessities.
It is important to me to make math fun and not intimidating to my students. I want to make sure my students have access to the basic supplies they need to be successful in school.
My Project
I would like to be able to provide my students with these basic essentials for a healthy, nutritious, and clean classroom. In order to keep my students healthy and my classroom clean, it is essential to have supplies such as tissues, band aids, cleaning supplies & wipes accessible.
Middle School Students are always looking for snacks and many come to school hungry.
I make sure I have healthy alternatives such as breakfast bars, nuts, pretzels and goldfish crackers as a nutritious snack.
Sometimes though, students are looking for something sweet. At these times, I like to provide some "fun snacks and treats" as a reward or maybe a "pick me up" for someone who is having a rough day.
