We Walk the Line!!

My students need 2 hold-a-ring walking ropes, a brick building activity tables and a set of building bricks.

Children need to co-exist in a successful manner, regardless of their age, gender, or ability. The children that I am working with are 4-7 years old with Mental Retardation in a high-need community. Because they have all witnessed some sort of traumatic event, they are also suffering from emotional delays.

In order for my students to interact in a positive fashion, they require a few items that will concretely enable them to do so.

For example, when they line up to walk in the hall, my students have a difficult time following the person in front of them in a straight line. Having some sort of device that can keep the students contained in a fun and safe manner would certainly help to eliminate this challenge! For example, a rope with multi-colored loops attached to it will enable each child to hold onto a handle and continuously walk with the entire class! My students also require a lot of time between academics to move around and regain momentum for the next period. In order to make this time more productive, I need to get manipulatives that they children are able to constructively build with in their world. My children have demonstrated a strong interest in Lego's and other building materials. We would love to have more of these in our classroom!
