When did you first learn about the U.S. Constitution? Was it when you were in middle school or even later? I want my students to have an opportunity to learn about the U.S. Constitution in second grade!
Our class consists of 21 eager second grade students that enjoy learning.
We are located in Omaha, Nebraska and are proud to be part of the Omaha Public Schools! My students have expressed interest in wanting to learn about U.S. history and are especially curious to learn about The Constitution. Unfortunately, even after 15 years of teaching second grade, I only have a few resources in my classroom to share with them about our country's history. My students are very hard workers and they deserve this opportunity to learn.
My Project
I want to introduce my second graders to U.S. history. My students need non-fiction books, as well as an iPad mini to read and research about the U.S. Constitution. This will allow them to learn at an early age about an important part of our U.S. history.
I want to expose my students to different forms of learning with these books and iPad mini. The non-fiction age-appropriate books will be read to my class and added to my classroom library so that the children can see pictures and learn facts about the U.S. Constitution in a kid-friendly way. The iPad mini will be used by the students to look up information on the U.S. Constitution. This will allow them to learn about our history. This use of technology will capture and allow them to take ownership of their learning.
My students need non-fiction literature about the U.S.
Constitution in my classroom to read that is on their grade level. They also need an iPad mini so they can research and put together a report about why the Constitution is important. By helping fund this project, you will be helping my students learn about the U.S. Constitution. All the materials will be used in the future with other students.
