My Students

My students are what makes teaching worthwhile! They bring so much life and joy into my classroom. All of them come to me with different abilities, backgrounds and strengths. They face challenges and know how to be brave and work hard. They learn how to be more kind and have fun, too! They gain more responsibility and resourcefulness in my classroom as they allow me to challenge them and meet my expectations. I am excited to be part of the adventures with them that await throughout the school year.

My Project

Each year my 5th graders participate in a few different historical reenactments during the Revolutionary War time period. The Constitutional Convention of 1787 is something that I like to instill in the minds and memories of my students.

We the People!

Covered tables, LED candles, costumes, a life sized George Washington and a Constitution will add to the ambiance and memories of meeting together over several weeks as specific delegates to the convention to write our nation's most critical document. These things will help my students feel the true meaning of "We the People."

This experience will not only help students further understand historical importance in the 5th grade Social Studies core, but it also will allow them to learn how to debate, make compromises, and improve their presentation and public speaking skills. All while learning about and being involved with a critical event in our nation's history.

I have been so grateful for the support of the parents of my students and the community I teach in. Please consider helping my students gain these experiences by donating to this project!
