This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you remember the first time you ever heard a story being read to you? I want my students to have a comfy area to sit on for when they listen to stories being read to them.

I currently teach 22 first graders in a Title I school located in a high poverty and high crime area in Pennsylvania.

All of my students receive free breakfast and free lunch. The majority of my students are now reading at the proper reading and math level and I couldn't be prouder of them. Many of my students come from homes where English is not spoken.

My Project

I would love for my students to have a new carpet for a comfy and attractive area to sit at when they listen to stories being read to them. I want them to enjoy hearing stories. I also would like them to read stories to their peers. It would be nice if my students had their own spot to sit on when listening to stories.

Our current carpet is very stained and not longer comfy.

Please help us get an attractive and comfy place to sit on when we listen to or read stories. I want reading time to be a positive and pleasurable experience.
