This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Meet the energetic, ambitious, lovable and jovial band students at our middle school. Between beginning, intermediate and advanced band, I see about 250 wonderful students. They are respectful and eager to learn. They are working towards a very successful year in our band program, however there are many needs for these amazing students. Our school is a Title 1 school meaning that majority of our students are on free or reduced lunch. We need your help to ensure that their educational needs are met.
My Project
Our middle school's band program has been rejuvenated this past school year after being dormant for 10 years. As the new band director, I have seen some great successes during the 2018-2019 school year that has lead to exploding numbers in our band program. I currently serve 250 students and lack the adequate equipment to ensure that every student performs to his or her highest potential. We are in dire need of music stands. I have inherited music stands that have been in the school for decades. I would like to provide students with working stands so that they can not only see their music properly but sit and play with good posture. Many of our current stands are dropping and have lost the friction that helps raise them. We would greatly appreciate your contributions to this project.
