This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I teach PE in a low-income school district, and my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. As they navigate through life's challenges, I want to arm them with the health and wellness tools they need to be successful in the gym, in the classroom, and out in the world.

Physical fitness is closely linked with academic and personal success.

My students are hard working, clever, and very energetic.

They like to play games, compete with one another, and cheer each other on. My students enjoy learning new skills in gym class, and work hard to set and reach their goals. They are proud of their accomplishments.

My Project

Basketballs and playground balls are the ultimate physical education tool. A wide variety of individual and team sports are played using these balls. We will play basketball, kickball, soccer, round the world, map ball, and more!

Ball play increases hand-eye coordination, foot-eye coordination, balance, agility, and endurance.

In addition, students can improve cooperative skills as they work as a team towards accomplishing a common goal. Did you know that physical fitness has been closely linked to academic success in several studies? That's a win!
