Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are enthusiastic 7th and 8th graders who love to learn about reading, math, social studies, and science. They gain more information when their lessons have tangible materials in their hands. They love to use technology to enhance their learning.
They come to school to learn how to be a contributing member of our school community by learning about the world around them.
My students come from low socio-economic backgrounds. They come from different cultures and some speak two languages. These various backgrounds help them bring different knowledge about the world with them to each lesson.
My Project
My school has been adding more art and music into the curriculum. The students will be helping me to create a wall size mural of the phrase "we rise by lifting others up." Around the phrase will be feathers that form the shape of wings.
The paint brushes in various sizes and the mural paint are essential for the success of this project.
The mural will be located at the end of the junior high wing, which faces one of the busy streets in the town. We want the community to visualize the positive impact we are having at school and to take that positivity into their lives.
