Mrs. McDonnell from South Berwick ME is requesting Books through DonorsChoose, the #1 classroom funding site for teachers.

We Read to Succeed!

My students need nonfiction books. There is nothing more wonderful than a child engaging in a great book! Please help me get some books into the hands of young students eager to learn how to read.

My Students

My third grade classroom consists of 18 hard workers who love hands-on learning! We spend our day meeting the rigor of Common Core Curriculum with fun, exciting and engaging lessons that are full of interactive learning. Our school is in a small town in Southern Maine where everyone knows each other by name. We are a strong community of learners and follow the Responsive Classroom curriculum. I strive to provide materials and resources for my students, but need help bringing new books into the classroom for the students. These students deserve the best education possible and access to updated textbooks will give them the tools needed to succeed as a learner.

It is common to walk into our classroom and see students being self-directed learners who collaborate with one another and preserve through difficult work.

They strive to do their best and always give 100% effort. They couldn't make me more proud! I just want to give them the best opportunity to succeed, and it’s so important to me to get new books that are appropriate for their reading levels into their hands!

Let's work hard to give them the best education and opportunities at school that we can!

My Project

Having new books will make a significant difference in our classroom. My 3rd grade classroom is severely lacking good books that students can use to learn how to read. My students are eager to become amazing readers and unfortunately our classroom lacks the resources to make books available to the students appropriate for their reading levels. Having more texts will allow students to expand their reading and comprehension as well as develop a love for reading. At such a young age it will make all the difference in the world for these kids to be exposed to quality literature and have the books they need to become successful readers. Thank you so much for considering donating to our project!
