My 26 students love reading books, chapter books particularly. They are very enthusiastic about learning new facts and sharing ideas to class.
They get very excited every time I bring new chapter books in class.
We read chapter books during our Walk to Read time and they have book report to finish within the week.
A lot of them take books home without being assigned to do so. They feel achieved every time they finish a book. As a teacher, I feel fulfilled seeing my students love reading and enjoying the books that they read.
My Project
I want my students to read 300 pages chapter books. Our library allows the kids to check out books for a week. Some of the chapter books I want them to read will take them longer than a week.
My goal is to have my students read a new book a month.
Therefore, I would like to have more books that they can borrow from the class for a month. In this way, they can have enough time to read the books and not stressing of turning it back in a limited time. At the same time, they can get used to reading longer chapter books.
