Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Failure is something my students know too well. I want them to experience sweet success! We encourage problem solving skills in every aspect of learning, from academics to character building within a stress free, give-it-a-try mindset.
All of my students qualify for free lunch and breakfast.
They have combined families and move around a lot. Parents can't help them with schoolwork either because they are working two or three jobs or because they just don't know how. Our school is like a big family; we are a safe place to learn.
My Project
We want students to use the CER model to explain their science thinking. With grade level experiments like the Volcano model (yes!) and hands-on activities, students will be able to make connections to scientific language and vocabulary through the use of their science nature eBooks. With our math reusable pockets and number lines and geometric shapes we want to give students the opportunities to try different strategies as they problem solve their way through rounding, addition, multiplication, division, subtraction and fractions.
Many parents of my classroom students had few opportunities to be successful in school, so every day their child comes into our classroom they become their family leaders.
Let them experience success at an early age, so they don't ever let go of that feeling. So they can say: I CAN DO THIS! Kids that never let go of their dreams are the game changers. I can't wait to see their intriguing ideas come to life.
