Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are enthusiastic to learn and ready to try new approaches to becoming well prepared for the 21st century. These skills are necessary for students to be successful in their future careers and personal lives.
My students have many odds stacked against them.
Our school is located in an urban area. A large percentage of my students receive free or reduced price lunch. Some of my students live in households that are unable to have access to computers because of their low socioeconomic background.
We have many challenges, but we have produced a school culture that is nurturing while setting high expectations for our learners. When we dream big, we can trust and believe that we will succeed.
My Project
It is my desire to help increase the exposure of my students to technology by having available a complete set of Chromebooks. Computers are used during daily centers and students can take them home to complete work.
This project will allow my students to not only learn how to use basic applications, but also to apply technology in their everyday learning.
The requested Samsung Chromebooks will increase learners' engagement and allow for a deeper understanding of how technology can support them in anything they do. For example, the Chromebooks will be available to publish work during writing, listen to audio books during reading, or practice fact fluency while doing math.
I want to open up a new world of learning for my students while giving them a viable chance at future success.
