Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My second grade students are eager to learn and try new things but they have the odds stacked against them.
I have general education students and special education students in my classroom.
I teach in a low-income urban school in New Jersey and more than 90% of my students receive free or reduced price breakfast and lunch.
I have been privileged to be in the same school district for my teaching career. Many of my students face daily challenges including limited support at home by parents, trauma, and poverty. Despite these challenges, I set high expectations for all students.
My Project
Technology is an important aspect in the classroom today. Students have access daily to computers which will offer the additional academic support and guidance. Technology will be used as a supplemental aid to their learning in each subject area.
Students will need to utilize the audio component on the computer and the headphones will let them access what they need without bothering a fellow classmate.
There are interactive online videos, academic games and lessons, and stories that my students can access on the computers and headphones will allow my students to concentrate and focus on their independent work without disturbing others.
