This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My school is a Title I school that sits in the heart of Washington, DC. I have a group of 67 fun-loving students, eager-to-learn new things, excited about school, and love to read. My classroom would be considered a melting pot of cultural heritage and social needs. Many of my students have been in the U.S. for less than four years. They inspire me every day.

To meet their needs, we incorporate various learning strategies, group work, and alternative seating and learning options to ensure that each student's needs are met, right where they are!

We are currently in the midst of hybrid learning.

My Project

History is a very complicated subject. In order to help my students understand our lessons, they need visuals to help them comprehend historical events.

Visuals lend to classroom instruction because they encourage students to make associations between pieces of information, soak up chunks of course content quickly, and function as a memory aid.

With this projector and screen, I would like to use with videos, movies, and our lessons to help introduce and explain racial justice and equality. The visuals from the screen will help aid comprehension as well as help store information longer. I hope these lessons will drive my students to seek equality in all.
