My students are creative, driven, and seeking more opportunities to further their knowledge and love of music. They are young, but many have expressed interest in making music a career in music performance or in the field of music education. They want more ways to expand that knowledge.
My students practice in class about four and a half hours a week and then practice 100-200 minutes at home per week.
They inspire me each day with their dedication and passion for playing. My students work many fundraisers during the year just to have enough supplies and repairs done to be able to play each week. Even with all of their hard work, we are in need of new materials, and as with most public schools, it is difficult to find the means to supply students with everything they need to be successful and grow.
My Project
My students are in need of a room divider that is designed to dampen the sound and allow them to practice with disturbing the large group rehearsal. This portable sound shield is just what we need to have more than one person practicing at the same time. It is tall enough to block much of the sound, but it is also easy to move in case a student needs to leave the space in a hurry.
My students greatly benefit from working with their peers in small groups, and this divider will give the students that opportunity.
If they are unable to work on the music at home due to lack of time, other children sleeping at home, or living in an apartment with thin walls, then they can practice in the classroom.
