Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are creative, clever, and love learning!
As a teacher in a multiage classroom (1-2), sometimes teaching three grade levels, and a multitude of abilities can be challenging.
My students make it so much easier though! Most of them come from low income families, but that never stops them from achieving all they can. My students come to school excited and eager to learn. They work as a family each and every day to help one another achieve their goals.
My Project
We need flexible seating, hands-on science kits, and lots of dramatic play! Teaching in a multiage classroom can be challenging, but expecting those 6-8 year olds to sit in hardback chairs all day...impossible! Stools will provide flexible seating for their learning to be accommodated anytime they are in small groups.
Using LEGOS in reading?
YES! LEGOS, can be used as an extension activity to follow the story for recreations, sequencing, and so much more. Having extra LEGO kits in the classroom will ensure all my students will have an opportunity to be engaged in these projects.
My students love to put on puppet shows for their classmates, and having "real" puppets, will really make them the stars of the show!
My students absolutely love hands on science. By providing them with STEM kits, the students will be able to do independent science activities as their own level, while incorporating reading and math as well. Having more games in the classroom will provide the students with some "downtime" when projects are complete, or to be used as an incentive to get work complete.
